KABUL): Seven traffickers have been detained with 97 kilograms of drugs in different parts of the country, the interior ministry said on Tuesday.
Three policemen were arrested by the counter narcotics officials on the charge of trafficking 32 kg of heroin in Nahr-i-Saraj district of southern Helmand province.
Deputy Minister of Counternarcotics Lt. Gen. Baz Mohammad Ahmadi said 55 kg of opium were seized in another operation in the same province. No one was detained, he said in a statement.
Separately, four people were held with 10 kg of heroin during an operation in Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province. Three pistols were recovered from the smugglers.
