Suicide car bomber hits ISAF vehicle

ASADABAD (PAN): A suicide attacker crashed his explosives-laden car into an empty vehicle of foreign troops in eastern Kunar province on Saturday, an official said. Only the attacker was killed in the bombing.

The ISAF vehicle was parked in front of the Sarkano district headquarters and the troops were inside the compound when the attack happened, the district chief, Shah Mehmood, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The assault took place at about 12pm, leaving the bomber dead and a passerby wounded, the official said.

Qari Ziaul Rahman, who claims to speak for the Taliban in Kunar, said six ISAF vehicles were destroyed and all soldiers on board killed.

The attack came two months after a tribal elder was killed along with a dozen associates in a suicide bombing in Kunar.
