LASHKARGAH (PAN): A 16-year-old boy was killed when police opened fire at his car in the capital of southern Helmand province on Sunday, officials said.
The incident occurred during a search in Lashkargah, the provincial capital, said Syed Hanif, a military prosecutor at the police headquarters.
The teenager was shot after he tried to avoid the search, he said, adding the boy was a car mechanic. A passerby also received bullet injuries in one of his legs.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the boy tried to escape after his car crashed into a police vehicle.
Zabihullah, the victim’s uncle, said Lawang was 16 years old and had a workshop in Lashkargah. He had no details about the circumstances that led to the boy’s death.
