KABUL said on Thursday.
The man was arrested during an operation in Nahr-i-Saraj district on Wednesday, the alliance said in a statement, which neither released the detainee’s name nor other details.
The detainee was based in Pakistan and was a former associate of the Al Qaeda chief, who was killed in a US raid in Pakistan last month. The alliance also said the man may have been with Osama in 2001.
A total of 35 people associated with Al Qaeda and the Taliban have been captured in Balkh during that period.
