LASHKARGAH (PAN fighters in southern Helmand province, a senior police official said on Friday.
Bodies of Commander Nader Khan and three other members of the force he led were found near the provincial capital Lashkargah late on Thursday night, three days after they were abducted.
While travelling to the Taliban-controlled Band-i-Taimoor area, the men had been seized by the militants on the Kandahar-Lashkargah highway, deputy police chief, Col. Kamaluddin Sherzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The bodies of two of the kidnap victims had been brought to the Lashkargah Civil Hospital, a doctor said on condition of anonymity. There was no immediate comment on the incident from the rebels.
Asmatullah, a resident of the Ainak area in Nawa district, said the commander had been missing for three days along with three other militiamen. Nader Khan was popular with the villagers and had no enmity with anyone, he added.
