JALALABAD (PAN): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a counterterrorism officer in Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Sunday.
Head of counter terrorism department, Col. Mohammad Aziz, was gunned down on Saturday evening when on his way home from the office to home, district chief, Haji Mohammad Hasan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A delegation had been sent to the area to investigate the murder, said provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Ali Shah Paktiawal. He gave no further details.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the officer’s death.
