Australian soldier killed in IED strike

The soldier succumbed to his injuries at the military health facility in Tirinkot, the Australian defence ministry said in a statement.

Nearly 1,550 Australian soldiers are deployed to Uruzgan. Twenty-seven of them have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001.
