Afghan soldier among 7 killed in Wardak clash

MAIDAN SHAR (PAN fighters and an Afghan soldier were killed during a clash in the in central province of Maidan Wardak, officials said on Wednesday.

The firefight erupted on Tuesday evening when the insurgents attempted to seize an ANA soldier in the Paindakhel area of Syedabad district, the administrative head of the town said.

With their colleague resisting the kidnap bid, more troops reached the scene and assaulted the Taliban, Fazal Karim Muslim told Pajhwok Afghan News.

One soldier and six attackers were killed in the encounter that led to the detention of two rebels, he said. One soldier was also injured. The Taliban later torched the house of the soldier they wanted to abduct, he said.
