Gangster killed in Wardak

MAIDAN SHAHR (PAN): The alleged leader of an organized crime ring was killed in a clash with security personnel in the central province of Maidan Wardak, officials said on Wednesday.

Juma Khan was killed on Tuesday night during an operation by Afghan and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops in the Awalkhel area of Jalrez district, the governor’s spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He accused Khan of robbery, looting, victimizing civilians and attacking Afghan and foreign troops.

The security of the area will become more secure with Khan’s death, a resident of the area, Mohammad Esa, said.
