AIBAK (PAN): A newly-constructed building for a high school was inaugurated in the northern province of Samangan on Tuesday, officials said.

Spread over one acre of land donated by area people, the structure for Imam Zaman High School cost $104,000 (4.81 millions afghanis) provided by the United Nations International Children Fund (UNICEF) in Dara-i-Sauf Bala district, the district chief, Ahmad Ali Husni, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The project was implemented in Kamch village.

Education director Mohammad Husain Sikandari promised providing more facilities to the school, where girls and boys study in exclusive shifts.

There are 18,500 students, including females, studying in 44 schools of the district, with 28 of the schools lack their own buildings, the official said.

“Earlier we have to attend classes under tents, in mosques and in the open,” a grade ninth student, Siddiqa, said.

She was happy with the construction of the building, saying they would now go to their school eagerly.
