MAIDAN SHAHR (PANinfo-icon): Ten civilians were injured or killed in a Talibaninfo-icon-fired rocket attack in central Maidan Wardak province on Monday, officials said. There were no precise figures for the number of dead and wounded.

The casualties occurred in the Pirdad area of Narkh district before the noon, the governor's spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said that the casualties included womeninfo-icon and children.

The attack occurred when a convoy of foreign troops was passing through the area during a joint patrol with Afghan forces, the governor's spokesman said.

The injured were taken to a healthinfo-icon facility for foreign troops, he added.

Residents recounted the incident differently, blaming foreign troops for the civilian casualties.
