5 killed, 15 injured in latest Pakistani shelling

JALALABAD (PANinfo-icon): Over five Afghan civilians were killed and 15 others injured in a new round of attacks into eastern Kunar province from Pakistaninfo-icon, an official said on Monday.

Pakistani soldiers targeted the Shonkri and Khadikhel areas of the Sargano district in their nighttime attack, Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel, the eastern zone border police commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Amarkhel said that the attacks were causing a great deal of financial and physical hardship for people in Afghanistaninfo-icon's border areas and asked the international community to take seriously Pakistan's continued shelling of civilian targets along the border.

He said: "If the government gives us the order, we can take 20 kilometers Pakistan's soil in an hour."

Brig. Gen. Amarkhel compared Pakistan to Russia in its killing of Afghan civilians, saying that the attacks had set homes and forests on fire.
