KANDAHAR (PAN movement, an official said on Thursday.

The operations were carried out in Kandahar city and its adjacent districts, including Spin Boldak, Khakrez, Zheri, Arghistan and Shah Walikkot, the acting provincial police chief, Gen. Abdul Razaq, told a press conference in Kandahar city.

He said 19 militants were killed, a dozen others injured and 21 more were arrested alive. A number weapons and explosives were seized, he said.

Meanwhile, police backed by foreign troops detained seven suspected militants with weapons during an operation in Zheri district, the governor’s office said on Thursday.

HELMAND: Two policemen were killed in infighting in the Safyan area of Lashkargah city of southern Helmand province, crime branch chief Col. Abdul Ahad Chopan told Pajhwok Afghan News on Thursday.

Chopan said two policemen, who were also brothers, were brawling in Safyan area when a police patrol arrived on the scene.

He added that there was a firefight ensued when the brothers opened fire on the patrol, killing two policemen, including a major, Maqsod, and injuring another policeman. One of the two brothers was arrested while the other managed to escape.

KABUL: A man was killed and two others injured when two trucks collided on Company-Mirwais Maidan road around 12:00 am on Wednesday night in Kabul, the owner of one truck told Pajhwok on condition of anonymity on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the Dahan-e-Sarai area of Kabul’s 5th police district when a tractor-trailor coming from the Company locality veered off the road and hit another truck headed in the opposite direction from Mirwais Maidan.

One driver and his navigator were injured. Pajhwok’s source added that the driver of the other truck was injured while his navigator died as a result of the accident.

The driver of the truck that skidded fled the scene with the navigator’s dead body.

PAKTIKA: A child was killed and four of his family members injured when the vehicle in which they were traveling struck a roadside bomb in the Janikhel district of southeastern Paktika province on Wednesday, residents said.

The blast ripped through a tractor-trolley carrying the family to Jafar Rasoul Khan village.

PARWAN: Police arrested more than a dozen insurgents after a clash in the Shinwari district of central Parwan province on Thursday, an official said.

The clash happened when a group of armed men attacked police returning from the site of a plane crash in Syagard district, provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Shir Ahmad Hamdani told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Hamadani said the clash lasted one hour and resulted in the arrest of 13 attackers. Police suffered no casualties during the fire fight, he added.

TAKHAR: An Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier was killed along with his four- year-old brother in a personal dispute in northern Takhar province, officials said on Thursday. A gunman opened fire on the two of them late on Wednesday in the city’s 3rd police district.

Abdul Salam Ahmadi, the provincial deputy police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that police have arrested a suspect and launched an investigation.
