QALAT (PAN warning, officials said on Wednesday.

Taliban came to the area and told the hospital authorities to stop working, Mohammadullah, an area resident, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Mohammadullah said hospitals, schools, roads and other public projects should not be used for political purposes, because they are being used by public.

He said he still does not know why the Taliban issued the warning.

Provincial public health department authorities also confirmed that the hospital had been partially shut down due to the Taliban warning.

Provincial civil hospital chief Dr. Suliman Safi said that the Taliban had issued the warning in a telephone call. The hospital served 250 to 300 patients daily.

He said: “The government suffers no damage from the hospital being closed. Only civilians were using it, and we urge the Taliban not to create problems for the people.”

The hospital has not shut down completely, but some doctors have stopped working because of the Taliban’s warning, Mohammad Seddiq, the district chief said.

He said: “Some of the doctors, who were from other provinces, have left the hospital, but we have deployed other doctors.”

The Taliban did not return Pajhwok’s request for comment.
