KABUL‘s new commander promised on Wednesday.
International Assistance Security Assistance Force (ISAF) commander Gen. John Allen, who replaced Gen. David Petraeus two days back, held out the assurance at a meeting with President Hamid Karzai.
The overall security situation in the country and along the Afghanistan, came under discussion at the meeting, a statement from Karzai’s office said.
Allen said he would carry out his assignment in consultation with the Afghan government and people. Afghan forces would be fully equipped to shoulder responsibility for national security, he added.
While stressing coordination between Afghan security forces and their international partners, Karzai said: “I’ll speak with the new US ambassador … on this and certain other issues.”
