KABUL Cricket Board (ACB) announced.
Host Ireland would be joined by teams from Afghanistan, Canada, Kenya, Namibia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Scotland, the United States of America (USA) and Vanuatu, an ACB statement said.
The top six sides of the tournament, which will be played from July 28 to August 9, will qualify for a place in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup to be held in Australia next year.
Nasimullah Danish, the ACB executive director, told Pajhwok Afghan News the national squad, had played a series of practice matches at home and abroad ahead of the important event.
The side, which defeated Islamabad-based clubs during a recent visit, would be able to perform well in Ireland, Danish hoped. Afghanistan will take on Nepal on July 28.
Sher Mohammad Sherzai, the Afghanistan U-19 skipper, said the players’ morale was high after winning the Ahmad Shah Baba Tournament. He added the team had talented and players, with enough international exposure.
Led by Sherzai, the team includes Jawed Ahmadi, Mohammad Y. Ahmadzai, Nasir J. Ahmadzai, Younus Ahmadzai, Aftab Alam, Abdur R Mangal, Abdul RK Naseri, Mohibullah, Rahmatullah Sahaq, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Syed Sherzad, Najibullah Zadran and Afsar Zazai.
