TALUQAN (PAN) troops during a joint operation in northeastern Takhar province, an official said.
The two were arrested late on Saturday night in Gunbaz and Haji Qishlaq villages near Taluqan, the provincial capital, said deputy police chief, Col. Abdul Salam Ahmadi.
The offensive targeted militant centres in the areas and as a result, two members of the militant outfit were detained, he said.
Resident Ahmad Rishad said that NATO aircrafts started hovering over their village at 10 pm in the night and the flights continued until morning. He said foreign troops had detained a number of people. But he had no information about their identity.
NATO’s media office in Kabul in a statement confirmed the operation, saying the detanees were involved in terrorist attacks.
