GHAZNI (PAN): The Ghazni Refugee Department has provided construction materials to 200 refugees and displaced families.

Rayes Abdul Bari Rahimi, the Ghazni Refugee Department Director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) provided the materials.

The materials included beams, gates, windows and cement. They were given to refugees that had land but could not afford a house.

One recipient was Abdul Qadir, a resident of Isfandi village. He said the materials had improved his troubled financial situation, even though he could build only three rooms. But now he no longer has to rely on others for shelter, he said.

It is the first time that refugees and the displaced in Ghazni have received building materials as aid.

Before now, families received food aid and assistance for the winter.
