AIBAK (PANinfo-icon): Two oil carrying tankers were torched after a collision that left one of the tankers' drivers dead in northern Samangan province, a senior traffic official said on Monday.

The two tankers carrying oil for the International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) collided with each other in Rabatak area of Aibak city at around 2pm late on Monday, said Col. Mohammad Ibrahim, the provincial traffic police chief. The vehicles caught fire that killed one of the drivers, he said.

A Talibaninfo-icon spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the incident, saying the fighters had attacked the two NATOinfo-icon supply fuel tankers, torching the vehicles and killing two drivers.

But security officials denied the Taliban had been involved in the incident.
