GARDEZ (PANinfo-icon): Four people were killed and 11 others injured in a rocket attack on the Zurmat district headquarters in southeastern Paktia province on Wednesday, an official said.

The rockets fired from an unidentified location fell in the district bazaar, causing causalities, Roohullah Samoon, the governor's spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

According to the director of the district clinic, Dr. Haji Muhammad Zurmati, two of the injured are in critical condition.  No one has so far claimed responsibility for the rocket strike.

In another incident, militants attacked a police vehicle in Ghalji area of Gardez, the provincial capital. Paktia police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Ghaffar Safi, said two police officials were killed and their vehicle destroyed.

As usual, the Talibaninfo-icon claimed responsibility for the bombing and said heavy losses were inflicted on the policemen.
