Kabul condemns attack on UN offices in Abuja

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Afghanistaninfo-icon condemned on Saturday as cowardly a car bomb attack on the United Nations' headquarters in the Nigerian capital of Abuja.

At least 18 people were reported killed in the assault, which drew denunciation from Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The Nigerian president, who slammed the blast as a most despicable assault, ordered stepped-up security around the capital.

"This is certainly a cowardly attack against an organisation undertaking efforts around the worldinfo-icon for peace, security and development," the Afghan foreign minister said in a statement.

Dr. Zalmai Rassoul extended his condolences and sympathies to the families of all those who lost their lives in this attack. And we pray for the rapid recovery of all those wounded.
