12 Taliban killed in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (PANinfo-icon): A dozen Talibaninfo-icon fighters were killed during a clash with US marines in the southern province of Helmand, an official said on Monday.

The clash erupted on Sunday when Taliban attacked a convoy of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) in the Shah Pushti area of Washir district, the governor’s spokesman, Daud Ahmadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Twelve insurgents were killed and their commander Mullahinfo-icon Abdul Salam was injured in the retaliatory attack, he said.

Ahmadi accused the group of attacking security forces’ convoys as well as disruption of security in the district.

A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, claimed to have killed three foreign soldiers in a roadside explosion. He did not provide information about the Taliban’s casualties.
