20 insurgents killed, 22 detained

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): At least 20 militants were killed and 22 others injured in different operations over the past 24 hours across the country, the interior ministry said on Wednesday.

Up to 14 operations were conducted by Afghan and International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) soldiers in Kabul, Nangarhar, Kunduz, Balkh, Kandahar, Helmand, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Khost and Paktia provinces.

An interior ministry statement said police seized two rocket launchers with 14 shells, two machine guns, 14 AK-47 rifles, 17 hand grenades and 400 machine-gun ammunitions.

Meanwhile, police defused an anti-vehicle mine in the Lokar area of Alingar district in eastern Laghman province. A mine planter was killed by his own explosives in the Hoshi village of Chahar Chino district in Uruzgan.

Separately, three men were arrested on the charge of drug trafficking and land grab in the 6th police district and Deh Sabz town of Kabul province.
