Afghanistan to participate in SAARC cricket tourney

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Afghan cricket team will be participating in the upcoming South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARCinfo-icon) cricket tournament scheduled to be held in the Maldives later this month, an official said on Monday.

The Afghan Cricket Board has been informed through an official invitation about the Afghan team's participation in the event, a member of the board, Nusratullah Wafa, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Under-25 players from member countries will participate in the tournament staring October 30, he said.

Wafa said names of the Afghan players would soon be announced. All heads of SAARC member states, including President Karzai, would watch the tournament, he said.

SAARC member states are Pakistaninfo-icon, India, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Afghanistaninfo-icon.
