118 militants, 31 ANA troops killed in 3 weeks: Azimi

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Thirty-one Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and 118 militants were killed in less than three weeks across the country, the defence ministry said on Wednesday.

About 230 armed insurgents were detained during the period in operations by Afghan and ISAFinfo-icon forces, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, told a news conference.

About 134 ANA soldiers and 30 militants were injured over the past eighteen days, he said.

Up to 208 kilograms of drugs, some vehicles, ammunitions and 64 different weapons were also seized during the period, Azimi said.

Four anti-tank mines, 11 machinegun, 20 mortar shells, four hand grenades, 78 bullets of BM1, 14 artillery shells, four rocket launchers and some other weapons were seized over the past 24 hours in Kabul, Parwan, Kunduz, Logar and Khost provinces.

Meanwhile, a bomb planted on a bicycle was detected and defused in the bazaar area of Dehrawoud district of Urozgan province.
