Policeman wounded in Nangarhar blast

Oct 21, 2011 - 16:48

JALALABAD (PANinfo-icon): A border policeman was wounded when the vehicle he was travelling in hit a roadside bomb in eastern Nangarhar province on Friday, an official said.

The remote-controlled blast happened in the Karkana area of Lalpura district at 2pm, a border police commander, Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the border police personnel were travelling in a Ranger pick-up to Fatah Mina area near the Afghan-Pakistaninfo-icon border. The vehicle was damaged as a result of the blast.

The explosion was followed by a clash between militants and policemen, Amarkhel said, adding that casualties were inflicted on the fighters. However, he had no specific figures.

As usual, the Talibaninfo-icon claimed responsibility for the bomb attack. Their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said four policemen were killed in the blast.
