ISAF chopper damaged in Taliban attack

ISAF chopper damaged in Taliban attack

Oct 25, 2011 - 11:14

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): An International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) helicopter was slightly damaged in an insurgent attack in central Kapisa province, the alliance said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon when militants fired at the copter supporting Afghan security forces in Ala Sai district, the ISAF Joint Command (IJC) media office said in a statement.

“The helicopter safely returned to a nearby ISAF installation, where it was inspected and confirmed to have received two bullet strikes,” the statement added.

No personnel were harmed in the attack and the helicopter was currently undergoing repairs, it continued.

But a Talibaninfo-icon spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the fighters downed the helicopter in Tagab district and around 20 Germen troops on board were killed.
