6 dead in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attacks

ISLAMABAD (PAN border, officials said on Friday.

Four missiles were fired from the CIA-operated aircraft into a house in the Khushal area of Mir Ali sub-division on Thursday night, political administration official Daftar Khan said.

A local journalist, Malik Mumtaz, said they were unable to visit the site, because the drone hovered over the area for several hours. The US has carried out 50 drone strikes in the region this year.

Elsewhere in the northwest, three NATO supply containers were destroyed in a grenade attack on a terminal in the Landikotal sub-division of Khyber Agency on Thursday night.

Two hand grenades were lobbed into the terminal by unidentified assailants at 8.30pm. No one was injured in the assault, said a government official, Shahriar Khan. 

Also on Friday, a police vehicle came under suicide attack in Nowshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Two policemen were killed and six others wounded in the explosion.

Local police official Ayaz Mandokhel the blast took place on Mardan road at around 11am. The dead were identified as Station House Officer (SHO) Ajmir Shah and another official.

Resident Riaz Khan claimed seeing a teenage boy running toward the police vehicle and exploding himself.

The SHO had been threatened by militants, policeman Muhammad Hussain said.
