KABUL flight carrying 237 Afghan pilgrims from Saudi Arabia touched down at the Kabul International Airport at 9am on Friday, an official said.

The first flight arrived in the capital this morning and another returning flight was expected to land at the Mazar-i-Sharif Airport in northern Balkh today, said Mohammad Nasir Hidayat, a representative of the Hajj and Islamic Affairs Ministry at the Kabul Airport.

A large number of people turned up at the airport to receive their family members and relatives.

Hidayat said there was no problem in the post hajj operation and two to three flights carrying Afghan pilgrims from Saudi Arabia would arrive on a daily basis. He said the process would take 25 days to a month to complete.

More than 30,000 Afghans had gone to Saudi Arabia for the performance of this year’s pilgrimage.

Thirteen Afghan pilgrims have died and 16 others wounded in Saudi Arabia due to traffic accidents and illness.
