KABUL): At least 26 insurgents were killed and 27 others detained during joint operations in different provinces over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Monday.

The operations were conducted by Afghan and NATO-led troops in Laghman, Helmand, Heart, Balkh, Ghazni, Zabul, and Kandahar provinces.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said 10 AK-47 assault rifles, two rocket-propelled grenades (RPG), as many machine guns, four motorbikes, and 18 IEDs were seized.

The statement also said two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier were killed and five others wounded in the course of performing security duties in Khost, Kunar and Kandahar provinces.
