The 56 weapons delivered to DIAG programme included four machineguns, five pistols and 47 Kalashnikovs, which had been recovered by police during last four months of operations, deputy governor Muhammad Jan Rasulyar told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He also said a number of people had also been arrested on the charge of having links with militants, he said, without giving any specific figure for the detainees.

Police also recovered thousands of kilograms of explosives and drugs during the period, Rasulyar said.
