KANDAHAR CITY (PANinfo-icon): Afghan and international security forces seized 1000 kilograms of narcotics in Kandahar province and detained two rebel commanders in Paktia, the alliance said on Thursday.

The drugs were seized by a combined patrol of Afghan and NATOinfo-icon-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) troops in Panjwai district, the ISAF Media Office in Kabulinfo-icon.

The drugs were destroyed on the spot, a statement from the alliance said.

Elsewhere, two Talibaninfo-icon commanders were detained during operations in Gorak district and Gardez, the capital of Paktia, the statement added. The detainees were allegedly involved in planting roadside bombs and attacks on road construction firms.
