AIBAK (PAN): Hundreds of people completed literacy courses during the ongoing Afghan year that ends March 21 in northern Baghlan province, officials said on Wednesday.
Arranged by the provincial education department, 1300 people attended nearly 93 literacy courses across the province, Ferozddin Ahmadi, the literacy programme head at the education department, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Baba Khan, who completed his course at the Aibak High School, said he was illiterate and could not write and read before.
He joined the literacy course last summer and able to read and write. Khan urged other illiterate people to join the course for the betterment of their lives.
About 12 hireling workers at the Aibak High School also graduated from the course. Abdul Majeed Mazami, the school headmaster, said the workers were now able to perform their duties in a better way and there has been a positive change in their behavior with school staff and students.
