PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN) soldiers in northern Baghlan province, officials said on Wednesday.
The three were arrested in the Zakarkhel area of Baghlan-i-Markazi district late on Tuesday night, Col. Sayed Zamanuddin, the provincial deputy police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Mullah local commander, was arrested along with his brother and a fighter, he said and hoped Ali’s arrest would have a positive impact on the security situation in the area.
Arbab Sultan, a tribal elder, expressed his happiness over the arrest of Ali, adding the rebel leader was involved in disruptive activities in the district.
ISAF media office in Kabul also confirmed the detention of the militant commander. In a statement, the force said the commander was involved in planting roadside mines to target Afghan and international soldiers.
Elsewhere in the province, four alleged murderers were arrested during an operation by Afghan security forces in the Nahrin district, the deputy police chief said.
He said the operations were conducted three days ago in different areas of the district. The four killers were detained with as many AK-47 assault rifles, he added.
