The unmanned CIA-operated aircraft fired two missiles at two vehicles in the Datta Khel area late on Thursday, a political administration official told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone.
A similar attack killed four militants in the restive area, home to Pakistani and foreign fighters, on Tuesday, when the drone strikes resumed after a pause of almost two months.
Thursday’s raid took place 30km west of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan, Taslim Shah said, fearing the death toll could increase. He would not give further information.
Residents said they heard big explosions, which left the vehicle destroyed. The car was moving to a border area from Angoor Adda, locals told Pakistani TV channels.
Local journalist Mohammad Rasul claimed a passenger vehicle was struck by the drone. Four occupants of the pick-up were killed and two others wounded, he said.
Another Miranshah-based reporter, Malik Mumtaz, said the pick-up truck was completely burnt. He had no idea about the victims’ identities.
