Karzai orders aid to the disabled, martyrs’ kin

KABUL): The Ministry of Labour, Social, Martyrs and Disabled Affairs would be released 417 million afghanis within a week time, the Presidential Palace said on Sunday.

The Ministry of Interior would pay the money through the Ministry of Finance. The decision came at a weekly meeting of the National Security Council, the palace said in a statement.

Chaired by President Hamid Karzai, the meeting was attended by the two vice presidents, interior minister, deputy finance minister and senior security officials.

The meeting decided to give disabled ex-service members and heirs of martyrs their due rights, the statement added. Karzai ordered in-time assistance to the disabled and families of martyrs.

Security Transition Commission head, Dr. Ashraf Ghani, briefed participants on the security situation and problems in Badakhshan, Badghis and Maidan Wardak provinces.
