KABUL): President Hamid Karzai has finalised and dispatched to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs a list of his cabinet picks, the Presidential Palace said on Wednesday.
The seven ministers’ names were sent by the administrative affairs department after being approved by the president, a spokesman for Karzai said.
Emal Faizi told Pajhwok Afghan News the nominees would soon appear before the Wolesi Jirga, or the lower house of Parliament, for a vote of confidence.
Unconfirmed reports say Wais Barmak has been nominated as ministry of rehabilitation and rural development, Obaidullah Obaid as public health minister and Ghulam Jilani Popal as transport and public aviation minister.
However, the presidential spokesman refused to reveal the Cabinet nominees. In defiance of a law recently approved by Parliament, several ministries are being headed by acting ministers.
