Herat orchard dispute claims 3 lives

HERAT CITY (PAN): Three people were killed and a fourth wounded during a dispute over the distribution of orchard trees and water in the western Herat province, officials said on Thursday.

The clash erupted on Wednesday night in the Zerkoh area of Shindand district, said a police spokesman for the western zone, Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi.

The situation was controlled as a result of police intervention. Several people were detained, the spokesman added.
