KABUL on Tuesday reiterated its support for an Afghan-led peace and reconciliation process, saying that a peaceful and prosperous Arghistan was in its interest.

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and Italian Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Franceso Talo discussed recent developments in Afghanistan.

A statement from the Pakistan embassy in Kabul said Khar underlined Pakistan’s enormous sacrifices in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

The international community should acknowledge its contributions and stand by Pakistan, she said, promising that Islamabad would continue working with other countries bilaterally and multilaterally to promote the cause of peace in the region.

The Italian envoy said his country Italy considered Pakistan a partner and fully appreciated the sacrifices rendered by it against extremism and terrorism.
