KABUL, on Saturday pledged $ 111 million (5503 million afs) to fund key infrastructure development projects across the country.
Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Javed Lodin and Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan Reiichiro Takahashi inked the multi-million aid package in the capital.
Takahashi said $22 million of the amount would be spent to construct a runway at Kabul International Airport, while $14.2 million on a similar project and parking facility at the Bamyan airport.
The Japanese envoy said another $7.5 million of the package would be used to construct a building for a computer science department in Kabul University, while the balance money to be channeled to various other development projects in different areas.
Lodin thanked the Japanese government for being a major donor to Afghanistan over the past 10 years.
He said the agreement was part of Japan’s $4 billion financial aid pledged towards reconstruction works in Afghanistan.
