KABUL turned violent as most people and security officials were not familiar with rules for demonstrations.
The President met families of those killed and injured in violent demonstrations across the country, sparked by the alleged Quran burning incident by US troops in central Parwan province three weeks ago.
Dozens of protestors were killed and scores wounded during clashes with security forces during the protests.
A statement issued from the Presidential Palace, said those who met Karzai also included relatives of the people killed and maimed in a suicide attack in Charikar city, the provincial capital of Parwan province, in August last year.
Karzai expressed his deep grief over the loss of precious lives in protests triggered by the desecration, hoping such tragic incidents would not take place in the future.
