Snow cripples roads to Ghor province

Snow cripples roads to Ghor province

CHAGHCHARAN (PANinfo-icon): Recent heavy snowfall has crippled passage to several districts in western Ghorinfo-icon province but official figures on the number of roads cleared so far appears contradicting.

Provincial public works director Muhammad Iqbal told reporters that snow-hit roads in Thiora, Charsada, Tholak and Pasaband districts had been cleared.

But acting police chief Col. Abdul Rashid Bashir rejected Iqbal’s statement, saying roads in several districts remained closed, as contractors were unable to remove the snow.

A Pajhwok reporter in the province said roads in Band Bayand area, where roads of other six districts passed through, were chocked by heavy snowfall.

Roads between Thiora, Shahrak, Tholak, Saghar and Pasaband districts remained blocked, he added.

Col. Bashir said roads in Dolina district were opened with joint efforts of police and contractors three days ago, but roads in Charsada district remained closed.
