KABUL): The Government Media and Information Centre (GMIC) officials on Sunday said a special gathering for spokesmen of different government institutions and journalists would be held soon.

GMIC’s move emerged after a large number of journalists complained that some government spokesmen did not give them timely information at a gathering to mark the International Women‘s Day today.

Although the aim of setting up the GMIC was to resolve grouses of media practitioners, journalists still faced problems with flow of information, Najiba Ayubi director of Killid Group said at the event held at GMIC.

Journalist had to wait for days to receive initial information for a story, she said, demanding GMIC officials to take urgent measures to assist the media to carry out their work efficiently.

GMIC head Hakim Ashur said they would hold a gathering to sort out the issues faced by journalist, as they acted as the bridge between media and government officials.
