KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Wednesday denounced two bomb attacks that killed and wounded a dozen civilians in southern Helmand and Kandahar provinces, his office said.
Eight civilians were killed after a van carrying them hit a roadside bomb in the Marja district of southern Helmand province on Wednesday.
The huge blast took place at about 1.30pm in Regi square. The incident comes hours before another civilian was killed and three others injured when an explosives-packed motorbike exploded in southern Kandahar province.
Karzai condemned the attacks, saying planting explosives on roads and killing innocent people was the job of those against peace in the county.
“The blood of innocent people would not go in waste and the culprits would face the wrath of Allah and the people of Afghanistan.”
The President extended deep condolences to the victim families and prayed for early recovery of those injured.
