WASHINGTON (PANinfo-icon): US Special Representative for Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon Mark Grossman is on a week-long travel to eight European countries for consultations ahead of the NATOinfo-icon summit in May.

Grossman is traveling to Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Warsaw, the Hague, Berlin, Paris and Brussels from March 18 to 24, the State Department announced on Monday.

The envoy is traveling through Europe to consult with America’s NATO allies and partners in advance of the NATO summit in Chicago.

“In the lead-up to the summit, we are focused on how best to support sustainable and sufficient Afghan National Security Forces for Afghanistan’s future and how we can further strengthen the NATO-Afghanistan Enduring Partnership,” the department said.

The Chicago summit will be a critical milestone in the US effort in Afghanistan, as leaders come together to discuss transition and the future of support for the war-hit country, the State Department said.
