KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Da Afghanistaninfo-icon Breshna Sherkat (DABS) on Wednesday signed a contract with the Etisalat Telecommunication Company to enable Kabul residents to pay electricity bills through mobile telephones.

Under the accord, the Etisalat Company would distribute 300,000 SIM cards to power consumers in the capital within three months, DABS head Abdul Razaq Samadi said after signing the contract.

When completed in Kabul, the process would be extended to other provinces as well, he promised.  Customer having the SIMs will be able to receive information on electricity bills which could be confirmed at Azizi, Pushtany and New Kabul Bank branches.

"The system is aimed to ensure bills payment in a transparent way and facilitate consumers," Samadi said.

Happy over signing the contract with DABS, Etisalat Marketing Manager Ali Asgharzada said the new system would help prevent the wastage of time for DABS, bank officials and consumers.
