KABUL to a five-wicket victory over Holland in a one-day international played in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, on Saturday.
Afghan skipper won the toss and chose to field in the 50 overs game, Nasrullah Wafa, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone from Dubai.
The Netherlands scored 257 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated overs. For Afghanistan, Ezatullah grabbed four wickets, Mohammad Nabi two and Samiullah and Shinwari shared one wicket each.
Wafa said Afghanistan, playing with a sense of responsibility, reached the target in the 47th over for the loss of five wickets. Sadiq’s hundred that involved six towering sixes and a dozen boundaries saw the national side dry and home.
Other high run-makers were Javed Ahmadi with 43, Mohammad Shehzad 37 and Nawroz Mangal 35. Sadiq was declared the man of the match. The event came two days after Holland defeated Afghanistan in the previous encounter.
