JALALABAD (PAN, started in eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday, officials said.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board head for the eastern zone, Qarar Azizi, told Pajhwok Afghan News the event was part of practice for an upcoming national tournament that would begin next week in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
Besides Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, teams from Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Nuristan provinces are also participating in the Twenty20 tournament.
Nangarhar Cricket Academy head Hasti Gul Abid, also a former member of the national side, hoped the ongoing tournament would help players hone their skills.
A player from Laghman, Gul Sarwar, said he had come to improve his skills and one day he would find his way to the national team. The first match was played between Laghman and Nuristan.
