SHIBERGHAN (PAN): A newly-constructed building was inaugurated on the university campus in northern Jawzjan province on Wednesday, officials said.
The building for engineering faculty has a hostel and other facilities, Higher Education Minister Dr. Obaidullah Obaid told the inaugural ceremony.
Stressing the need for the uniform development of the education sector, he said the building cost 70 million afghanis ($1,399,160) provided by the ministry from its development budget.
He promised the construction of buildings for the university’s auditorium, cafeteria and teaching rooms in the near future.
On the occasion, Governor Mohammad Alam Sayee said the university had an important role in promoting scientific education in the province. He called for more attention to infrastructure development projects.
“Most of students cannot afford to pay residential expenses due to economic constrains,” Raqib Ahmad, said a second year student.
Vice-Chancellor Eng. Mohammad Hashim said up to 2,363 students were studying in faculties of economics, engineering, education, social sciences, geosciences and chemistry at the Jawzjan University.
