KABUL injured in separate incidents of violence, officials said on Thursday.

Five Taliban were killed in a clash with Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers in the Khogiani district of southern Ghazni province.

Army commander Gen. Daud Shah Wafadar told Pajhwok Afghan News the ANA personnel came under attack while patrolling the Khashk area early on Thursday. Five attackers were killed, he said.

Elsewhere, one insurgent was killed and four others arrested by a joint Afghan-international security force in the Syedabad district of central Maidan Wardak province, said Dr. Fazel Karim Muslim, the district chief.

In southern Zabul, Afghan and foreign forces detained three suspected militants with weapons and explosives in the Shahr-i-Safa district, said Khadi Khan, the town’s administrative chief.

The ISAF media office in Zabul acknowledged the detention of two people, saying they were loyal to the Taliban.

Meanwhile, two civilians were killed and four women wounded when an artillery shell hit their house in the Tagab district of central Kapisa province.

Abdul Hakim Akhundzada, the district chief, said the incident occurred in the Matkhel area during a clash between Taliban and Afghan security personnel.

Elsewhere, unidentified gunmen shot dead a schoolteacher and a civilian in the Shindand district of western Herat province, said Col. Noor Khan Nekzad, the police spokesman.

He added the incident happened late on Wednesday night in the Zerkoh area. The attackers managed to escape.
